Software Engineer
Dan has worked as both an electrical and software engineer, combining a degree in Energy Engineering and a diploma in Full Stack Software Development.
Dan graduated in the first class of energy engineers from University College Cork (UCC) in 2012. He started his career within the power systems team at Cork based electrical automation company NeoDyne, designing and and commissioning PLC and SCADA control systems, primarily for gas and biomass fired combined heat and power (CHP) plants. Dan later worked with Irish tidal energy company OpenHydro, testing automation hardware and software for their submersible turbine control center.
In 2019, Dan transitioned into software development by completing a diploma in Full Stack Software Development with the Code Institute. Prior to joining Brightwind, Dan worked at the MaREI Centre for Climate, Energy and the Marine, UCC, supporting the Climate Ireland adaptation project – migrating applications to AWS, developing data visualisation and operating an e-learning platform for the Irish local authority sector.
